Karla Wagner

Children’s House Teacher

Karla Wagner, a dedicated Children’s House Teacher, brings a unique blend of musical artistry and educational expertise to her role. Her journey into education and music began in junior high, where she directed her first shows in 4H. This early passion led her to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Music Education at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Her commitment to education deepened through her training with the North American Montessori Center (NAMC), where she specialized in the 3-6 age group and became a certified Montessori guide.

Karla’s teaching experience is extensive and diverse, covering all ages from toddlers to senior high students in various classroom settings across both public and private schools. When asked about her preferred age group, she always responds with her overarching love for working with children of any age. In addition to her classroom responsibilities, Karla also serves as the Elementary Music teacher at Montessori Renaissance Academy (MRA). She manages a private Piano and Voice studio both at her home and at school, a role she finds immensely fulfilling.

Celebrating her birthday on June 2nd, Karla’s personal life is enriched by her two adult sons, Preston and Parker, and her cat, Linus. Her academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and a Certification in Children’s House from NAMC. She has been an integral part of the MRA community since 2011, initially joining MRS.

Karla’s favorite aspect of working in a Montessori school is witnessing the pure joy on a child’s face when they independently discover or figure something out. This moment of realization encapsulates the essence of Montessori education and is a source of great satisfaction for her.

When it comes to personal preferences, Karla enjoys Cherry Coke and Dr. Pepper for her beverages. Her taste in treats spans from anything sour to the sweetness of milk chocolate. For snacks, she gravitates towards salty options like chips and pretzels. Her food choices include pizza, McDonald’s, and Panera, showcasing a balance between comfort and convenience. Purple is her favorite color, reflecting her creative and vibrant personality.

The greatest sign of success for a teacher... is to be able to say, ’The children are now working as if I did not exist'
